The rains are predicted to return to the maritime Northwest this weekend,
so I spent some time today harvesting summer crops
(tomatoes, including ripe cherries, delectable Jaune Flammes and some big beefsteak Old Germans that still need to ripen) and fall vegetables (a few peas – so crisp and sweet!).
I also put a plastic-and-wire hoop cloche over my fall lettuce crop, and took some time to stake up the peas, which would quickly rot if the mass of vines sits in a puddle.
