How often have you just wanted to hand over your favorite book to a friend and say, “Here! Read this!” In my case, it’s happened plenty of times.
That impulse seems to be behind the Goodreads website. It feels to me like a place where readers can browse each other’s bookshelves. And it’s also a place where a reader can find out what their favorite writer is reading, or would recommend.
I started my own bookshelves on Goodreads, and split up my list of recommendations into shelves for gardening, Seattle authors, classics (in my opinion) and my all-time faves.
But now Goodreads is doing me a favor. They’re giving away a number of copies of my book!
Their First Reads program is a great way to try out new books, a cool perk they can give to readers. People with Goodreads accounts can go
to the First Reads page and enter to win a copy of any book listed there. At the end of the giveaway period, they randomly choose members to get the book, and give away as many as they have. Starting today, Cool Season
Gardener goes on the list!
